Arki MLA Sanjay Awasthy today accused BJP leaders of making a false allegation regarding the diversion of Rs 500 crore meant for railway expansion just to defame the state government.

Awasthy, while addressing mediapersons here, accused the BJP leaders of not cooperating in getting financial assistance from the Central Government and obstructing the release of grants to Himachal. “The allegation levelled by BJP leaders that Rs 500 crore meant for railway expansion has been diverted is totally wrong. The money of the state government is lying unused in banks, so the claims of the BJP are totally wrong,” he added.

He said that the state government had decided to use the unutilised money lying in the banks. “This money will be utilised for public welfare. It is wrong to make misleading statements,” he added.

Awasthy said that instead of indulging in constructive criticism and getting Himachal its due, the BJP leaders were making misleading statements to defame the state government. “Rather than making personal comments, Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur should help Himachal get its due from the Central Government as Rs 9,000 crore is still awaited for the damages and losses suffered during the monsoon in 2023,” he added.

He also took exception to Anurag's comments on the foreign visit of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. “There is so much about Anurag that even we can say but I feel it is inappropriate to make personal comments,” he said.
