BJP's criticism is Cong govt’s only achievement: Bindal
State president of the BJP Rajiv Bindal today charged that the state government has continuously been criticising and abusing the BJP ever since it came to power two-and-a-half years ago, without making any achievement during this period. Addressing media persons at the BJP office in Una, he said this is despite the fact that the Congress government cannot function without the financial support and assistance of the Centre.
Bindal said Union Health Minister JP Nadda was in Bilaspur a few days ago and instead of appreciating his contributions towards sprucing up the health infrastructure in the state, the Congress leaders rubbished AIIMS, Bilaspur, as an institution of no use to the people of the state. He said while the facts were otherwise, the Union Health Minister has doled out Rs 265 crore to each of the three medical colleges of the state at Hamirpur, Nahan and Chamba, besides funds for the PGI, hospital in Una, Mother and Child Hospitals and cancer centres in the existing district hospitals of the state.
The BJP leader said during the Narendra Modi rule, the state has witnessed a sea change in the road infrastructure like roads connecting Mandi, Pathankot, Kangra, Shimla, Kalka and Pinjore with national highways to Jalandhar, Amritsar and Chandigarh. He said Rs 950 crore has been sanctioned by the Centre for a bridge over Gobind Sagar reservoir in Una district.
Speaking about the working and performance of the state government, Bindal said more than 2000 public institutions including schools, colleges, revenue and health institutions besides veterinary centres have been closed down by the government, adding that despite thousands of employees having retired during the last 30 months, not a single post of teachers, nurses, lecturers or mid-day workers have been filled.
The BJP state president demanded that the state government should issue a white paper on their claims of having fulfilled five ‘guarantees’ given to the people of the state on the basis of which they had come to power. He charged that the law and order situation is deteriorating by the day and mafias are reigning supreme under the patronage of the state government.
