Book on avocado cultivation out

Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi released a book titled 'Avocado Cultivation in Himachal Pradesh: Opportunities and Challenges' authored by Deepak Singha. The book provides an insight into avocado production, challenges, and solutions, as well as cultivation methods.

The author has identified three major challenges in avocado cultivation in the state - plant availability, lack of information, and suitable variety selection. Singha emphasized that avocado cultivation can generate one-and-a-half times more income than apples for people in the districts like Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, and Kangra. Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi announced that the state government will promote avocado cultivation.

The horticulture department will establish an avocado orchard in a cluster to kick-start the initiative. The book provides information on avocado cultivation, addressing the knowledge gap and offering practical solutions.
