Breather for Nahan college after new OPD opens in Chaugan

Nahan residents and people from remote areas of Sirmaur district will no longer have to battle the long queues and heavy rush at Dr YS Parmar Medical College’s main OPD. Responding to persistent public demand, MLA Ajay Solanki today inaugurated a new general OPD near the historic Chaugan Ground, housed in the old PG College campus.

This facility will not only offer general consultations but also provide basic diagnostic tests and medicines. The MLA said that patients seeking primary consultations for ailments such as dog and monkey bites, as well as other common illnesses, will now be able to receive treatment here without visiting the overcrowded main medical college OPD. He directed the college management to ensure that blood and other routine samples are collected between 9:30 am and 11:30 am, with reports made available by 3:30 pm the same day. The new OPD will also offer anti-venom and anti-rabies vaccinations.

Solanki announced that efforts are underway to shift more OPDs from the main medical college to this campus and urged the state government to provide additional doctors and paramedical staff to meet public needs. He noted that patients, especially those from far-flung areas, often had to spend hours waiting for registration slips at the main OPD — a problem that this new facility aims to address.

Speaking at the inauguration, Dr SS Dogra, Principal of Dr YS Parmar Medical College, and Joint Director Kapil Tomar said the move would ease patient load at the main campus while giving residents easier access to primary healthcare.
