Protest against stadium at Ground
Mandi: Members of the Panna Lal Raksha Memorial Charitable Trust staged a hunger strike at Seri Chanani, Mandi, opposing the proposed construction of an indoor stadium at the historically significant Paddal Ground. Led by Trust president Rajesh Kapoor, the protestors emphasized their support for an indoor stadium but objected to its location, citing the ground’s cultural importance and community utility. “Paddal Ground is a vital space for the Shivaratri fair and fitness activities. Its development into a stadium would deprive residents of this resource,” stated Kapoor, urging MLA Anil Sharma to identify an alternative site that preserves the ground for future generations. In addition to opposing the stadium, the protesters demanded the restoration of the Sakodi Bus Stop, which serves 21 rural panchayats but was recently relocated to an inconvenient and unsafe location.
