2 arrested with cannabis in Solan
Solan: In a bid to curb drug trafficking, the Solan police arrested two youths after recovering 100 grams of cannabis during city patrols. The accused, Nikhil (21) from Shillai and Piyush Kumar (25), tried to flee upon seeing police near Kasai Gali. Upon being searched, the contraband was found in a bag. SP Solan Gaurav Singh stated that Piyush had two previous heroin peddling cases against him, with 15 grams seized earlier. Nikhil’s background is under investigation; he was living in a rented flat in Solan. Both have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Police suspect their involvement in a wider drug network, and a probe is underway.
NHM doctor assaulted, hurt
Shimla: Dr Vikas Sharma, employed with the National Health Mission (NHM) in Shimla, sustained injuries after being assaulted by an unknown person near Brockhurst locality while on his way to the office. The assailant reportedly stopped and attacked him, also issuing threats before fleeing the scene. Dr Sharma was immediately taken to the Shimla IGMC, where he is undergoing treatment. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of medical professionals. Police have confirmed the assault and launched a probe to identify and apprehend the accused.
