Bring Nurpur railway station under Amrit Bharat scheme: MP to Centre
Kangra Lok Sabha MP Rajiv Bhardwaj on Thursday met Union Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav in New Delhi and urged him to bring the Nurpur railway station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme so that infrastructure could be strengthened in this historical station in Kangra district.
Bhardwaj, who hails from Nurpur, also urged the Union Minister for the conversion of the Pathankot-Jogindernagar narrow gauge railway line into a broad-gauge track.
The MP told The Tribune that the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme was an ongoing mission of the Indian Railways launched in February, 2023, to develop railway stations across the country. In the first phase, the scheme intended to upgrade and modernise 1,275 stations in the country. Bhardwaj said that he had also appealed to the Union Railway Minister to run special trains to Himachal Pradesh during the upcoming tourist season. He urged him to order the halts of two Vande Bharat trains at the Pathankot railway station as only one train had its stoppage there.
Bhardwaj thanked the Union minister for increasing the allocation of the annual railway budget for Himachal Pradesh in the next fiscal year. He said that the minister assured him of taking necessary steps and issued requisite directions to the department officials.
