Snow-clearance work at Baralacha La on the Manali-Leh highway is being undertaken by 70 Road Construction Company of Border Roads Organisation.

The 16,000-ft-high pass lies in Himachal Pradesh, close to the border with the Union Territory of Ladakh, and remains heavily snow-bound during winter.

BRO has also initiated surveys to construct a tunnel under the pass for ensuring all-weather access to Ladakh.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
