BSNL to upgrade all existing mobile BTS to 4G

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in Himachal Pradesh Circle has planned to upgrade all existing mobile Base Station Transceiver (BTS) sites with indigenously developed 4G Network. This equipment of the 4G network is 5G-ready equipment. The BSNL will be in position to launch 5G services without upgrading the equipment. This was stated by Vivek Jaiswal, Chief General Manager, BSNL during the BSNL HP Telecom Circle felicitation ceremony held here on Friday.
He said during FY2023-24, 393 sites were upgraded with Indigenous 4G network. During FY2024-25, 320 sites had been upgraded up to July 10 with the Indigenous 4G Network.
He said BSNL plans to upgrade the remaining 532 sites in the remaining period of FY2024-25 with the indigenous 4G Network.
“To improve BSNL’s 4G Coverage, HP circle has planned additional 130 4G sites in the state. To facilitate BSNL’s customers, BSNL HP is planning to appoint Point of Sale in each village of the state,” said Jaiswal.
He said, “In view of the recent tariff hiked by other TSPs, BSNL is receiving port in requests of their mobile numbers by customers of other TSPs. BSNL HP is facilitating all such customers under the Mobile Number Portability scheme.”
“We aim to achieve the goal of the 1.3 Lakh FTTH connections in this FY,” he said.
He added that recently, BSNL had launched several attractive FTTH Plans, such as the monsoon offer in Fibre basic Neo@ 449/-per month and Fibre basic@499/-per month with a discount for new customers.
