After three vibrant days of budding artistes showcasing their talents across artforms, the 48th anniversary festival of Sutradhar Kala Sangam culminated at Atal Sadan with a series of dynamic cultural performances on Saturday.

The event featured 11 diverse competitions, attracting about 1,500 student artistes representing 32 schools.

Kullu MLA Sunder Singh Thakur, as the chief guest at the event, honoured Kullu Valley Senior Secondary School, Ramshila, as the overall winner.

Cambridge International School, Mohal, secured the overall second position, while Bharat Bharti Senior Secondary School, Dhalpur, claimed the third place.

A highlight of the festival was the much-anticipated Princess Sutradhar modelling competition. Rishita Kaundal of Bharat Bharti Senior Secondary School, Dhalpur, took home the crown, with Kritika of Kullu Valley School, Ramshila, and Ritika of DAV School, Mohal, bagging the first and second runners-up positions, respectively. DAV School, Mohal, triumphed in the fancy dress competition, while Kullu Convent School, Dhalpur, excelled in the folk song segment.

Cambridge International School, Mohal, vowed audiences in the film song and orchestra competitions, clinching victory. Kullu Convent School, Dhalpur, won the classical singing category.

In the three-day artistic extravaganza, GSSS, Sultanpur, emerged first in the group song contest; Kullu Valley School, Ramshila, won the fashion show; Agamik School, Mohal, secured the win in the short drama competition; Bharat Bharti Senior Secondary School, Dhalpur, claimed victory in the group dance contest; and Kullu Valley School, Ramshila, clinched victory in the folk dance category.

Addressing the gathering, Thakur said, for the last 48 years, Sutradhar Kala Sangam had been instrumental in nurturing young talent, and providing a vital platform for cultural expression. He underscored the importance of such events not only in preserving the region’s rich cultural heritage but also in engaging young people, and keeping them away from negative influences.

Reflecting on the festival, Dinesh Sen, president of Sutradhar Kala Sangam, said the organisation — founded in 1977 — had consistently served as a pioneer in promoting the region’s culture on both national and international stages.
