Budding theatre artistes find platform at Dehri govt college

A five-day theatre workshop concluded last evening at Government College, Dehri, in the neighbouring Fatehpur subdivision. The workshop was organised by the Hindi Department of the college. The 60 participants of the workshop presented performances on the closing day.

Government College, Rey, Principal Neenu Thakur presided over the event.

The participants performed a dramatic rendition of Pahlwan ki Dholak, a story by Phanishwarnath Renu. Assistant Professor (Hindi Department) Neha Mishra said the workshop was focused on the personality development of students. During the workshop, eight training sessions (theoretical and practical) were conducted in the first four days, with participants showcasing performances on the last day, she added. Allahabad University Assistant Professor Amitesh Kumar was the virtual resource person and keynote speaker at the first session of the first day of the workshop.

He delved into the nature of drama, and various theatre components through presentations. Pratibha Rai, another resource person and a theatre enthusiast from Dharamsala, conducted practical sessions.

Participants were also provided knowledge of theatre architecture, scenic design, theatre lighting, sound and costumes.
