Chamba MLA Neeraj Nayar today lauded the state government’s second Budget, terming it as far-sighted, innovative, and oriented towards the welfare of the poor and common man.

He said that the announcement made in the Budget to raise the daily wages under MGNREGA from Rs 240 to Rs 300 would benefit around 1.4 lakh workers in the district. He said that the proposal to introduce homestay registration under the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development and Registration Act would lead to the expansion of such facilities and eventually boosting tourism and the local economy. The construction of a heliport in the Sultanpur ward of the Chamba Municipal Council would also give a fillip to adventure, religious, and eco-tourism activities throughout the district, he added.

Nayar said that the commencement of training courses for the youth belonging to the SC/ST categories would benefit these sections of society. He added that schemes like the Chief Minister Sukh Arogya Yojana and the Chief Minister Sukh Shiksha Yojana would play a significant role in social welfare initiatives.
