Bumber Thakur accuses Bilaspur MLA of being close to those who shot at him
Bilaspur MLA Trilok Jamwal and former Bilaspur MLA Bumber Thakur of the Congress levelled serious allegations against each other outside the Vidhan Sabha here today. Bumber Thakur, who was shot at during the Holi celebrations at his residence in Bilaspur, accused Jamwal of patronizing ‘chitta’ suppliers and being close to the persons who had shot at him. In return, Jamwal accused Bumber Thakur of starting the culture of gang war and contract killing in Bilaspur.
Jamwal had in the Vidhan Sabha yesterday accused Bumber Thakur of triggering a gang war in Bilaspur while the latter levelled serious allegation against the incumbent MLA and sought security for himself and his family. “I have urged the Chief Minister for security for myself and my family. If anything happens to me, BJP leaders will be responsible for it,” said Bumber, who was under treatment at the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) for a bullet injury in a thigh
Bumber Thakur accused Jamwal of having proximity with people who had assaulted him. He displayed several photographs showing Jamwal with people who, he claimed, were responsible for assaulting him. He also dragged the name of a top BJP leader and his son into the assault case. “Jamwal has been demanding the withdrawal of my security. I want to know why he has been doing so?” he asked. “Also, I want to know who brought shooters from Haryana to attack me?” he added.
Meanwhile, Jamwal said that Bumber’s allegation was baseless and shooting incidents in Bilaspur were the result of a gang war between him and his former supporters. “I was the first person to hold a rally in Bilaspur against the attack on Bumber Thakur and demand the arrest of the shooters. The former MLA, however, is bent upon politicising the issue,” he said.
