Shimla: Tutikandi bus terminus gets final notice over Rs 6.3 cr property tax
Shimla, July 10
The Shimla Municipal Corporation has issued a final notice to the management of the Interstate Bus Terminus (ISBT), Tutikandi, over non-payment of the property tax amounting to Rs 6.33 crore, asking it to clear the pending dues within two weeks.
The corporation has warned the ISBT management that water and electricity connections would be cut if it failed to deposit the property tax before within the given timeframe.
According to the corporation, despite several notices the ISBT management is yet to deposit the property tax. The ISBT building houses several eateries, a multiplex, shops and hotels, besides the interstate bus stand itself.
Shimla Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bhupinder Attri said a final notice had been issued to the ISBT management over the non-payment of the property tax. He said strict action would be taken against the management, as per the rules, if it failed to deposit the tax on time.
Meanwhile, the civic body has also issued property tax bills to more than 27,000 building owners in the town. The last date for depositing the tax is July 31. The bills were to be issued earlier this year, but the process was delayed as most MC employees were busy in the poll duties. The MC had decided to extend the last date of depositing the property.
