Byelections: 10 posts vacant in Una district

Byelections to vacant posts in Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) in Una district will be held on September 29 and the process will begin on September 11. Stating this in a release, Neelam Katoch, Assistant District Election Officer (Panchayats), said there were 10 vacant posts of PRIs in the district, which included one post each of panchayat pradhan and up-pradhan, besides eight posts of ward members.

In Amb block, the byelections will be held for up-pradhan of Nari-Chintpurni panchayat and panchayat members in Amb Tilla and Andaura (Upper) panchayats.

In Una block, the byelections will be held for ward members in Basoli, Arniala (Lower) and Bhatoli panchayats.

In Gagret block, the bypolls will be held for vacant posts of panchayat pradhan in Ghanari and for a panchayat member in Jadla-Keodi panchayat.

In Bangana, the byelection will be held for the lone vacant seat of panchayat member in Chaproh panchayat, while in Haroli Block, bypoll will be held for the vacant post of panchayat member in Panjawar panchayat.

As per the byelection schedule, candidates can file their nominations at the respective polling stations from September 11 to 13 from 11 am to 3 pm. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on September 16, while withdrawals can be made from 10 am to 3 pm on September 18, after which election symbols will be allotted the same day.

The polling will be held on September 29 from 8 am to 4 pm. Counting of votes will be held at the respective Panchayat Bhawans on the same day.

The model code of conduct has been enforced in the panchayat areas where elections to the posts of pradhan and up-pradhan will be held, while in all other cases the code will remain in force in the respective areas of the panchayat wards where byelections have been declared.
