The Cabinet today flayed the Central Government for allegedly using the official machinery to destabilise the democratically-elected Congress government.

The Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, condemned the BJP for allegedly using nefarious means to subvert the democratic process. It reaffirmed full faith in Sukhu’s leadership and resolved to inform the people of Himachal Pradesh about the BJP’s designs.

State to recruit 2,401 SMC teachers

  • The Cabinet has decided to recruit 2,401 SMC teachers through limited direct recruitment on contractual basis. The services of these teachers would be regularised after they complete the stipulated period as per the policy
  • It also gave approval to filling 985 posts of Lecturer (Computer Science). The decision was taken on the recommendation of a Cabinet sub-committee constituted under the chairmanship of Education Minister Rohit Thakur to look into the issues of SMC and computer teachers

The Cabinet was referring to the use of CRPF personnel and the Haryana Police for facilitating the entry of six Congress rebels and three Independent MLAs into the Vidhan Sabha on February 28 when the Budget was to be passed. It was a day after the six Congress MLAs had cross-voted in the favour of BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan in the Rajya Sabha elections.

The Cabinet also urged the Central Government to release Rs 9,043 crore for post-disaster need assessment (PDNA) without delay, as it had been worked out as per the norms.

It decided to recruit 2,401 SMC teachers through limited direct recruitment on contractual basis. The services of these teachers would be regularised after they complete the stipulated period, as per the government policy. It also gave approval to filling 985 posts of Lecturer (Computer Science). The decision was taken on the recommendation of a Cabinet sub-committee constituted under the chairmanship of Education Minister Rohit Thakur to look into the issues of SMC and computer teachers.

The Cabinet approved the grant of Rs 1,500 per month under the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi scheme for eligible women in the 18-60 years age group, thereby fulfilling one of the poll guarantees. It also decided to declare the Suhi Mela, Chamba, and Saho Jatar of Chamba as district-level fairs.

It decided to rationalise the engineering staff of the Forest Department and grant promotion to eligible employees, as per the recruitment and promotion rules, subject to the availability of vacancies. Thereafter, their services may be placed at the disposal of the borrowing departments.

The Cabinet approved the creation of a sub-tehsil at Bhadoli in the Jawalamukhi area of Kangra district. It also gave clearance for opening a community health centre at Darlaghat in Solan district and a primary health centre (PHC) at Pihari in the Jawalamukhi area of Kangra district.

The Cabinet gave consent to upgrading one post of Medical Physicist in the Department of Radiotherapy, IGMC, Shimla, to the post of Assistant Professor, Medical Physics. It also decided to create one post of Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiology in Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College at Tanda in Kangra.
