Hamirpur: Cadet Palak shines at annual NCC camp, wins gold medal

Cadet Palak of Woods Park Sainik School, Bani, made headlines by winning a gold medal in the 100-metre race at the annual NCC Camp held at Navodaya Vidyalaya Kothipura in Bilaspur district. The camp concluded today and had as many as 19 schools from across the region participating in it.

Under the guidance of (Retd.) Chief Training Officer Naib Subedar Sunil Kumar Sena Medal, a total of five Junior Division cadets and two Junior Wing cadets from Woods Park Sainik School participated in the event.

In addition to Palak’s victory, Cadet Alisha Malik was recognised as the Best Cadet and received the Best Drill prize in the JD group. Cadet Sarvajna from the Junior Wing also earned the Best Drill prize, while Palak secured third place in the firing competition.

The winners were celebrated upon their return to school with a warm welcome. Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani was present to felicitate the awardees. Commandant Col. (Retd.) Anil Mankotia congratulated all participating cadets and wished them a bright future.

Woods Park Sainik School is notable for being the only private Sainik School in the state and is among 21 private schools established by the Central Government under the Ministry of Defence.
