Call to set up PHC at Kamnala village

The newly constructed Primary Health Centre (PHC) building at Kamnala village is still awaiting the centre.

The PHC, running from a rented building at Jassur near Nurpur, was to proposed to be shifted to the new building but the previous government had shifted the office of the BMO.

Kartar Singh, a resident of Kamnala gram panchayat, had donated his land for the construction of the PHC in 2012 but after the construction of the building, the BMO office started functioning there. Peeved Kartar had even raised the demand of restoring his land to him because the purpose of the donation of the land stood defeated.

At present, in the Health Department records, two BMO offices are functioning from Gangath and Indora.

The BMO office, being run in the Kamnala PHC building, is still functioning from Gangath in government records as the department has not issued the notification for its new location. All department communications are being done in the name of the BMO, Gangath.

Ashwani Kumar and Rajesh Sahotra, president and general secretary of the Non-Gazetted Officers’ Association, Nurpur, have objected to the functioning of the BMO office from Gangath in official records. He asked the department to issue a notification. He also underlined the need to shift this office to the Nurpur Civil Hospital so that the PHC, Jassur, could be made functional in its own building at Kamnala.

According to Dr Neerja Gupta, BMO, Nurpur, nine PHCs and two Community Health Centres were being administered from her office.
