The Baddi SP today recommended to the district administration to cancel the licences of two hotels operating in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh industrial cluster under the Sarais Act, 1867.

The SP said it was found that hotel Shagun in Nalagarh and hotel Krishna on the Sai road in Baddi did not seek identification proofs from people who stayed there, some of whom indulged in crimes.

In the case pertaining to hotel Shagun, a person, who had stayed there without any identification proof, was found to have stolen a Mahendra Bolero vehicle. He was arrested from Rajasthan recently .

In the other case, the staff of Krishna hotel had not bothered to verify the identity of youths who were involved in a heinous crime committed against a minor girl in Baddi. The police learnt about their laxity after the accused were arrested.

Under the Act, the hotels are also supposed to ensure that CCTV cameras, metal detectors etc are installed on their premises.
