Two persons were reportedly killed and four were injured in an accident near Tiale Da Ghat on the Hamirpur-Shimla highway, about 18 km from here, late night yesterday.

The deceased were identified as Duni Chand (89) and Raghuveer Singh (60), residents of Amned village. They were returning home with family from his daughter in-laws’ house when their car suddenly went out of control and crashed onto a parapet wall around 8 p.m. The collision was so severe that the vehicle was badly mangled.

Local residents rushed to the scene and helped rescue the passengers from the wreckage. All six were taken to the medical college here, where Duni Chand and Raghuveer Singh succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

It was reported that car was driven by Anil Kumar, son of Duni Chand. Other passengers were Sudesh Kumari, Anita Rana, Pyarchand and one elderly villager.

Bhagat Singh Thakur, SP, said that a case has been registered and investigation was started. He added that the bodies of the deceased were handed over to the family after conducting post-mortem examination.
