Two persons were killed and two seriously injured when a car plunged into a gorge near Lahad village on the Dalhousie-Chamba-Bharmour road late last night.

The mishap occurred at about 11.30 pm when the car (HP-39-A-7914) plunged into a 100-feet gorge near Dobala bridge. Four persons, including the driver, were in the car when the accident took place.

While two persons fell out of the car as it rolled down, while the other two, Ashok Kumar and Mahender Singh, were crushed to death inside the car. The moment the news of the accident spread, local villagers reached the spot and started rescue operations to take out the injured and take them to hospital.

While two persons were declared dead on being brought to the Civil Hospital, Dalhousie, the other two are under treatment. The bodies of the two dead have been handed over to their families.

Superintendent of Police Chamba, Abhishek Yadav said a case has been registered on the basis of the statement of one of the injured.
