Car plunges into gorge in Shimla, 3 injured

At least three persons sustained injuries after a car they were travelling in plunged into a gorge in Chopal subdivision, Shimla district.

The injured have been identified as Digvijay Singh, Sunny and Erik Meta — all residents of Deha in Theog, Shimla.

According to reports, the accident took place late Sunday night near Dattakandi village when Digvijay, who was driving the car lost control and the vehicle plunged into a gorge.

Locals noticed the vehicle and immediately informed the police, and assisted them in rescuing the injured. They were rushed to Civil Hospital, Chopal, from where they were referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, for further treatment.

Shimla Superintendent of Police (SP) Gaurav Singh confirmed the report and said a case under Section 125 A (endangering life of others) of the Bharariya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered and investigation is going on.
