CBI quizzes HPPCL former Director in Vimal Negi death case
Desh Raj was asked questions regarding Negi’s death, work culture in power corporation
The CBI today interrogated Desh Raj, former Director (Electrical) in Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL), in the case of the mysterious death of Vimal Negi, former Chief Engineer in the HPPCL. Negi’s body was found in the Gobind Sagar Lake in Bilaspur district on March 18 after he went missing from his office in Shimla on March 10.
As per sources, Desh Raj was interrogated for a few hours and was asked questions regarding the death of Vimal Negi, work culture in the HPPCL, allegations made by Negi’s family, etc. Desh Raj along with former Managing Director of the HPPCL had been accused of abetting Vimal Negi to commit suicide. Negi’s family had made this allegation and claimed that the officers were mentally harassing and pressuring Negi for the past few months before his death.
The CBI took over investigation in the case on the orders of the Himachal Pradesh High Court. Earlier, the Himachal Police was probing the case.
