Member of Parliament Rajiv Bhardwaj announced that Centrally sponsored development schemes will now be reviewed at the subdivision level to ensure more effective implementation and accountability. He emphasised that public participation and cooperation from local representatives are vital for the success of any government programme.
Chairing the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting at the School Education Board auditorium, Bhardwaj stressed the immediate need to kickstart all approved works under MP and MLA funds. “Laxity in development work will not be tolerated,” he stated.
Highlighting infrastructure concerns, Bhardwaj called for urgent patchwork on deteriorating stretches of the four-lane road project and instructed NHAI officials to designate proper dumping sites to avoid ecological damage during monsoon.
He also reviewed the performance of key welfare programmes such as the Mid-Day Meal Scheme and Anganwadi services, urging regular quality checks and community involvement to ensure nutritious meals for children.
In the health sector, he praised Tanda Medical College’s advancements like robotic surgery but urged improvements in diagnostic facilities and transparency in Ayushman Yojana payments.
Bhardwaj called for a shift toward natural farming, warning against the harmful effects of chemical fertilizers and promoting eco-friendly practices in line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision.
Issues related to the Smart City project — including sanitation, electric buses and public amenities — will be addressed in a separate review meeting, he added.
The meeting was attended by MLAs Ranveer Nikka and Pawan Kajal, District Council Chairman Ramesh Brar, Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa and other officials.
