Centre grants forest nod for three heliports
The Central Government has granted forest clearance for the construction of three heliports in Himachal Pradesh, which will give a major fillip to tourism.
A spokesperson for the state government said here today that the heliports would be constructed at Holi and Pangi in Chamba district and one near the green tax barrier at Manali in Kullu district. He added that earnest efforts were being made to strengthen air connectivity by constructing 16 heliports in all district headquarters and tribal areas.
He said that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had directed the officers concerned to ensure there was no delay in the construction work and that all necessary formalities, especially forest clearances, were completed promptly. He added that the state government was actively working to accelerate the construction of heliports to improve connectivity, especially from the point of view of tourism promotion.
Besides, the work for the expansion of the Kangra airport was progressing rapidly and efforts were being made to expand the Bhuntar airport as well. These developments would allow both domestic and international tourists to easily access their preferred destinations in Himachal Pradesh, he added.
