Centre has given Rs 2,716 crore for three rail projects: Thakur
Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur today said that the Central government has given a budget of Rs 2,716 crore for three rail projects of the state. Stating that the budget for the rail projects was more than the last year, Thakur said four railway stations will be built in the state in this financial year.
Claiming that the Central government was giving full support to the rail projects in the state, Thakur alleged that the state government was responsible for the slow pace of work on the rail projects. “Despite repeated requests by the Railways, the government is not giving its share of Rs 1,626 crore to the Railways. As a result, the expansion of rail connectivity is getting delayed and the cost is also increasing. The CM should release the state share to speed up the rail projects,” said Thakur.
Meanwhile, CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the state would not give more than 1,100 crore for the Bhanupalli-Bilaspur rail line. “It’s not our fault if their estimate has doubled. For the Chandigarh-Baddi rail line, we have given Rs 186 crore. We want Railways to construct the rail line as quickly as possible,” he said.
