Centre urged to extend four-lane project from Dhali to Rampur

Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh today said keeping in view the strategic importance of Shimla-Kinnaur Road, they will ask the Centre to extend the four-lane project beyond Dhali to Rampur Bushahr.

The minister today inspected an under construction Bhad-Ranghav tunnel under Kotgaya panchayat in Shimla Rural Assembly constituency. “We will approach Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to extend the four-lane from Dhali to Rampur Bushahr,” he said.

He said the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has started work on four-lane from Kaithlighat-Shoghi-Chamiyana-Dhali adjoining Shimla in two phases. He said two tunnels were also being constructed from Kaithlighat to Dhali.

He directed the project officials that the interests of the villagers were paramount, so the work of four-lane should be completed within the stipulated time period keeping in mind all the safety standards.

“Roads damaged at Bhad, Nai, Chadau, Chadoli, Kothgaya, Yan, Ranghav, Damechi, Pujarli, Dagah, Kwalg, Majhar, Chalaunti and Chamiyana villages, potable water sources and electric poles will be repaired as soon as possible,” he said.

The minister added that it was the government’s responsibility to protect the interests of villagers affected by four-lane project and provide compensation for the damage caused to farms and houses.

He also directed the project officials to provide compensation for the reconstruction of the damaged house of Keval Ram of Kyarnala village.
