Also, Chamba is the country’s fifth “Aspirational District” to become ‘Har Ghar Jal’. Union Jal Shakti Ministry on Friday informed this after reaching the milestone of providing tap water supply to more than nine crore homes. The JJM achieved another landmark of providing tap water to every home of 100 districts in the country today.

The other four “Aspirational” districts which had attained the distinction of “Har Ghar Jal” are Mewat in Haryana and Bhadradri Kothgudem, Jayashankar Bhupalpalli, Komram Bheem Asifabad (all in Telangana).

The NITI Aayog has identified 117 “Aspirational Districts” in the country for special interventions to bring them at par with comparatively better off districts on developmental indices.
