Chamba college hosts 57th annual sports meet

The 57th annual sports meet was successfully organised today at Government Post Graduate College, Chamba. The event was graced by Chamba Additional Superintendent of Police Shivani Mahla as the chief guest.

In her address, Mahla emphasised the significance of sports in life, stating that sports not only enhance physical fitness but also contribute to mental well-being. She encouraged all participants to play with a true sportsman spirit and highlighted that every competition offers valuable lessons that help individuals progress in life.

Principal Madan Guleria also spoke on the importance of the event, underscoring that the annual sports competition plays a crucial role in the holistic development of students. He mentioned that sports instill discipline, confidence and teamwork, which are essential for success in life.

The competition witnessed an enthusiastic participation of students, showcasing their athletics talents across various events. In the women’s 800-metre race, Priya secured first place, followed by Salima in second and Santosh and Chuna in third. In the men’s 1500-metre event, Sushil claimed first position, Vishesh came second, and Sachin finished third. Sushil also won the men’s 800-metre race, with Deepu and Ramesh securing the second and third positions, respectively.

The 400-metre men’s race saw Mohit clinching the first position, followed by Prashit in second and Sachin in third. In the women’s 400-metre race, Sneha took the first place, Santoshi came second and Bindiya finished third. The 200-metre men’s event was won by Nishant, with Sahil securing second place and Aditya third. Radhika won the women’s 200-metre race, followed by Sneha in second and Manisha in third. In the men’s shot put event, Manish emerged as the winner, with Khemraj in second place, while Neeraj and Daksh shared the third position.

The competition successfully fostered enthusiasm for sports among students, boosting their confidence and motivation. Winners were felicitated, and all participants were encouraged to continue striving for excellence in future events.
