The quarterly meeting of the Chamba Zila Parishad, chaired by president Dr Neelam Kumari, was held here today. The meeting saw an extensive discussion on new and old agendas across various departments, with particular focus on transforming Chamba district into a tourism hub. District council members deliberated on developing untouched tourist destinations in the district and providing essential infrastructure at these sites. Matters related to health, clean drinking water supply, roads, education and other issues were also discussed.
Dr Neelam Kumari directed officials from all departments to coordinate effectively and complete public welfare projects within the stipulated time frame. She also assured that a separate meeting would be convened with absent departmental officials to address the pending issues. She instructed the concerned departments to take prompt action where unsatisfactory responses were received on certain matters. The members present observed a two-minute silence to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
During the meeting, District Council Secretary and Panchayat Officer Manish Kumar presented a detailed report on various issues. Other council members also offered significant suggestions on key topics.
Lalit Thakur, Chairman of the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee; Rajeev Mishra, District Tourism Development Officer; Ramanvir Singh Chauhan, Block Development Officer Bharmour; Bashir Khan, Block Development Officer Mehla; Tukesh Sharma, District Language Officer; Arvind Singh Chauhan, District Employment Officer; Dr. Bhupendra Singh, Deputy Director of Agriculture; Pravesh Thakur, Executive Engineer, Electricity Department; and Dinesh Kumar, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, along with officials from other departments, were present at the meeting.
