In a significant step toward the upcoming municipal elections, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Mukesh Repaswal has issued the final delimitation orders for the wards of Chamba and Dalhousie Municipal Councils. The announcement follows the directives of the State Election Commission and marks the formal conclusion of the ward reorganisation process in the two prominent Himachal Pradesh towns.

As per the official notification, Chamba Municipal Council will now be divided into 11 wards. These include Sultanpur, Kasakra, Chaugan, Hatnala, Jansali, Chauntra, Surada, Sapri, Dharog, Julakari and Hardaspura. Dalhousie, on the other hand, will have nine wards under its Municipal Council. These are named Lower Bakrota, Lohali, GPO, Hindu Lane, Convent, Kathlag, Upper Bakrota, Motitibba and Dalhousie Club.

The delimitation process began with the release of a draft proposal on June 2. During the public feedback phase, the district administration received six objections related to Chamba’s proposed ward boundaries and five concerning Dalhousie. All objections were duly heard and addressed by June 16, well within the timeline stipulated by the State Election Commission.

An appeal period remained open until June 23 for citizens wishing to challenge the decisions made on the objections. However, no appeals were filed during this time for either Chamba or Dalhousie, paving the way for the issuance of final delimitation orders under the Himachal Pradesh Municipal Election Rules, 2015.

Officials confirmed that the process was conducted in a transparent and time-bound manner to ensure fairness and accuracy. With this final order in place, the stage is now set for future electoral and civic processes in both towns. Residents seeking further information about the newly defined ward boundaries can approach the offices of the respective Sub-Divisional Magistrates or Executive Officers of the municipal councils.
