A monthly review meeting of the district-level NARCO Coordination Centre (NCORD) was held recently at Chamba under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal. Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav was also present as a special attendee.

During the meeting, the DC reviewed the initiatives undertaken by various departments for the effective prevention of drug abuse and directed all officials concerned to enhance awareness regarding the harmful effects of narcotics and psychotropic substances. He further instructed that information on specific categories of medicines sold at chemist shops should be provided on a monthly basis.

Special directives were given to the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Education Department to strengthen awareness activities in all educational institutions across the district. He emphasised the need to hold meetings with the principals of all schools in Chamba to educate students against drug abuse.
