Chamba Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal inspected PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Sarol to review the damage caused by heavy rain during the monsoon season and to assess the situation along the Ravi bank.
He directed Executive Engineers of the Public Works and Jal Shakti Departments to prepare a detailed damage assessment report so that necessary repair work can be taken up promptly.
The DC held a meeting with the School Management Committee to discuss issues related to campus safety, cleanliness and student welfare. He instructed the school administration to prepare and submit a proposal for raising a protective wall along the Ravi river to safeguard the school premises from a flood-like situation in future. Emphasising hygiene, he asked the management to maintain strict cleanliness standards and ensure proper disposal of plastic waste to prevent spread of diseases among students.
Repaswal also advised the school principal to conduct regular disaster management drills in coordination with the District Disaster Management Authority.
The Jal Shakti Department was asked to ensure periodic testing of drinking water supplied in the school.
The DC instructed principal of the Government Polytechnic, Sarol, to organise career counseling camps for Navodaya students. He also released the school’s annual magazine. Principal Vikram Sachdeva conducted the proceedings of the meeting and shared detailed information about the school’s operations.
