Chamba MLA Neeraj Nayar on Tuesday laid foundation stone of a new tribal hostel at Lagga during an event to mark fifth anniversary of National Education Policy-2020. The hostel will be built under the Dharti AabaJanjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at the holistic development of tribal communities.
The foundation ceremony coincided with the All India Shiksha Samagam held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The event was virtually inaugurated by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while the groundbreaking ceremony was conducted by the Chamba MLA, in the presence of Zila Parishad Member Manoj Kumar.
The proposed hostel, being built under the aegis of Samagra Shiksha, will accommodate 50 students from tribal areas, providing them with residential facilities that aim to support their educational journey and well-being.
Speaking on the occasion, Nayar extended heartfelt gratitude to the Central Government for its continuous support in ensuring the development of remote and tribal regions. He also assured the public of continued collaboration between the state and central governments for the overall development of Himachal Pradesh. Nayar also addressed several local issues raised by
attendees and offered immediate solutions.
Deputy Director (Higher Education) Bhag Singh and Deputy Director (Elementary Education) Balbir Singh were also present on the occasion.
