Kumar explained that during silt flushing, the gates of the Chamera-III dam at Kharamukh would be gradually opened to release water until the river returns to free flow. During this process, there was a possibility of increased water levels in the Ravi river downstream of the Chamera-III dam, he said.

For the safety of residents , the NHPC authorities would sound sirens and hooters before the release of water, he said.
