Shimla, June 30

The Education Regulator has directed the Kangra SP to register an FIR against Chancellor, Arni University, Govind Kumar Goyal, Vice-Chancellor Shiv Kumar and Registrar SS Guleria for allegedly cheating students and the faculty.

The Himachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission had received a number of complaints against the university management with regard to the non-disbursal of salaries to the faculty and other employees. Despite establishing a communication with the university, there was neither any reply nor any representative of the university appeared before the commission.

In his order, Dr SP Katyal, a member of the regulatory commission, said, “The university not only violated the Act passed by the State Legislature, but also jeopardised the career of several students and caused financial hardships to the employees.”

As per records, the university admitted students under various degree and diploma courses, collected fee and other charges and also appointed full-time faculty. However, it did not disburse the salaries in time.

Further, the university advanced untenable reasons and always avoided appearing before the commission.
