Channel energy into positive pursuits, Chauhan urges youths in Paonta Sahib
Announces Rs 17 lakh for local development works in Amboya government school
The state government is committed to promoting talented youth in every field. The youth should channel their energy into constructive pursuits, said Industry Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan today. He presided over a State-Level Under-19 Boys and Girls Cultural Competition at Government Model Senior Secondary School at Amboya in the Paonta Sahib Assembly Constituency of Sirmaur district.
Chauhan, while addressing the gathering, said that such cultural events not only provided a platform for students to showcase their talent but also played a vital role in connecting them with their rich cultural heritage, traditions and social values. He added that participation in cultural, sports and extracurricular activities instilled discipline, cooperation and self-confidence among students, leading to their holistic development.
He said, “Sports are essential for a balanced life as they contribute to both physical and mental fitness while also nurturing character and team spirit. Sports help the youth stay away from social evils and unhealthy addictions.”
The minister said that many athletes from Himachal Pradesh had excelled at the national and international levels. He added that deserving players were being encouraged through cash incentives and reservation in government jobs, enabling them to secure dignified positions in public service. He announced Rs 10 lakh for the school’s science laboratory, Rs 5 lakh for the construction of toilets and Rs 2 lakh for the improvement of the Harijan Basti road.
The concluding ceremony featured mesmerising folk dances, instrumental music and traditional songs by participants from various districts. The minister congratulated the organisers for the successful event and stressed the importance of continuing such programmes in the future to nurture the young talent and preserve Himachal’s cultural vibrancy. Earlier, Chauhan listened to public grievances at the PWD Rest House, Paonta Sahib.
