The Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) here today met the chief warden of the university and urged him to prohibit illegal entry into the hostels.

ABVP campus president Avinash Sharma said incidents like students creating nuisance after consuming alcohol were being reported from the hostels every now and then.

The ABVP also urged the chief warden to get surveillance cameras installed on all floors of the boys’ hostels.

“In the past year alone, three students have been injured in alleged incidents of assault. Due to the lack of cameras, the university authorities were unable to take action,” he added. The ABVP also demanded that the roads leading to hostels should be repaired immediately and new streetlights should be installed.
