A day after Deputy Commissioner, Mandi, received a bomb threat email claiming to blow up the DC office, a similar email has been received by the Chief Secretary's office located in Himachal Pradesh Secretariat. It was claimed in the email that the Chief Secretary's office will be blown up with a bomb.

Acting upon the email, bomb squads along with sniffer dogs reached the office and conducted a thorough search of the premises. However, no suspicious thing was found from the spot. As a precautionary measure, security of the Secretariat was beefed up and people were allowed to enter the premises only after proper checking.

Prabodh Saxena, Chief Secretary, said that two emails having similar language have been received, one to the DC Mandi and the other to the Chief Secretary's office. The email has mentioned a certain happening that is going to take place in Tamil Nadu and the blast in the Chief Secretary's office would be timed with that incident. The Chief Secretary said that his office has been sanitised and no such thing has been found. However the state government is on alert.

He said that the authenticity and origin of the email is being verified and the assistance of central agencies could also be taken.

Meanwhile, the state’s police has stated that the Police Headquarters is taking this matter with utmost seriousness, relevant units are actively investigating the case and all necessary security measures have been put in place.

On Wednesday, the DC, Mandi received a bomb threat email after which the premises of the office was evacuated. Bomb disposal squads from Mandi, along with teams called in from nearby districts such as Hamirpur, Kullu and Bilaspur carried out a thorough search of the area. However, nothing suspicious thing was found from the office.
