Child charred to death in house fire tragedy at Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti
A young child was found dead in the aftermath of a fire, which occurred at Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district on Tuesday. The body was found early this morning.
In response to the tragedy, Lahaul and Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana has announced immediate financial assistance of Rs 40,000 along with essential goods to the affected family. Additionally, relief measures are being taken under disaster management, with a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to be provided to the family soon.
The MLA expressed deep condolences to the family and assured that every possible help would be provided. The fire, which engulfed the area, was controlled by the administration, DDMA, Fire Department, and the Water Supply Department last night. The affected Nepali-origin family has been relocated, and efforts are being made to ensure they receive all necessary support, the MLA said.
The four-year-old child was trapped inside the house. MLA Rana appealed to the public to exercise caution, warning against the negligence of leaving small children unattended near open fires.
In a statement, Kunga Bodh, member, District Council, confirmed that administration would provide Rs 25,000 as immediate relief, with an additional Rs 3.75 lakh to be given later. The Red Cross will also contribute to the assistance.
The family has decided to perform the child’s final rites at Tandi Sangam, with support from the panchayat and the forest department. The administration, including Tehsildar Ramesh Rana, has expressed condolences and provided relief in the form of blankets, a kitchen set, and funds to help the family.
