Child hurt after being beaten by teacher in Parwanoo school

The child’s mother, Shobha Thakur, files a complaint with the Solan police to probe into the incident

A Class IV boy of Government Primary School, Gaighat, in the Bhojnagar area of the Parwanoo sub-division, sustained head injury after being allegedly beaten up by a teacher on Tuesday.

The child’s mother, Shobha Thakur, today filed a complaint with the Solan police to probe into the incident which she claimed had left the child in a state of shock and despair. The boy was taken to the Regional Hospital, Solan, for conducting his medical examination. An injury mark was visible on his head which the child had sustained due to merciless beating, alleged his mother.

Shobha Thakur told mediapersons that she was telephonically informed about the incident by the school authorities who claimed the accused teacher had slapped her son. She, however, said the child profusely bled after being hit with a metal scale on his head. She said, “During the parent-teacher meeting, I specifically told the school staff not to beat my son as he is my only child.”

Education Minister Rohit Thakur has already stated that the department would soon hold counselling sessions to sensitise teachers about how to handle children in an appropriate manner.
