CITU to hold rally against Centre, state government in March

The Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) has decided to hold a state-wide rally against the policies of the Centre and the state government in March during the upcoming budget session.

The decision was taken during a review meeting of the CITU Shimla District Committee, held under the chairmanship of district president Kuldeep Dogra.

During the meeting, it was decided that thousands of workers associated with CITU would participate in the protest against the “anti-labour, anti-farmer, anti-employee, and anti-people” policies of the Centre and state government.

It was also decided for the state chapter to support the nationwide strike expected in March.

Addressing the meeting, CITU state president Vijender Mehra lambasted the Central Government and said the “anti-people” policies of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government, such as the privatisation of public sector undertakings, rising unemployment, poverty and inflation, have severely impacted the working class.

“We demand the declaration of Anganwadi, Mid-Day Meal, and ASHA workers as government employees, implementation of gratuity, a minimum wage of Rs 26,000 for workers, cancellation of the four labour codes, the National Monetisation Pipeline, and schemes such as Agniveer, Ayudhveer,” he added.
