Agrata Sharma, a class VIII student of Him Academy Public School, Hira Nagar, Hamipur, was selected for a national painting championship on Friday. The event will be held on January 15. Himanshu Sharma, principal (academics), said Agrata was selected after she won the state-level National Colour Art Fest Challenge of Cities Competition organised online. Agrata had won
a colour painting championship organised by the SJVNL in 2019 also. Besides, she was declared winner of a championship organised by the state Art, Culture and Language Department last year.
‘Susashan Diwas’ at HPU
The birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was celebrated as ‘Susashan Diwas’ at Himachal Pradesh University on Friday. The Governor and university Chancellor Bandaru Dattatreya, the chief guest on the occasion, paid tributes to the late leader. The Governor said Vajpayee was a good speaker, politician and poet. Sikander Kumar, Vice Chancellor, said everyone must learn from the life of the former PM.
66th national session of ABVP
The ABVP started its two-day 66th national session at Nagpur on Friday. In view of the pandemic, only members of the central working committee took part in the session. However, it is being streamed online, which is being watched by around 1.5 lakh ABVP activists at various places. During the session, the issues of farmers, atmanirbhar Bharat, Covid and new education policy will be discussed.
New party unit constituted
The ABVP constituted its new unit in Evening College, Shimla, with Vivek Sharma as the president and Anshu general secretary. On the occasion, election officer Subhash said the ABVP had been working for students’ rights since 1949.
Noorpur schoolchildren excel
Noorpur Public School, Nurpur, excelled in the district-level Children’s Science Congress, 2020, organised online by HIMCOSTE from December 21 to 23. In the junior wing science quiz, Aarushi and Pragati stood second; in the science activity corner, Drishti Sen stood first; and in the mathematics olympiad, Ayushi secured the first position. Similarly, in the senior wing science quiz, Arunima Kaushal and Aditya Chauhan stood second; in the science activity corner, Manaswin Kath stood third and in the science survey report, Samyra and Alisha Guleria stood first. In the senior secondary wing mathematics olympiad, Sparsh Mahajan stood first and in the science survey report, Sneha stood first.
