Road to Chambaghat District Industries Centre requires repair

The road to the District Industries Centre from Chambaghat is in a pitiable shape because of lack of maintenance. Chambaghat is one of the oldest industrial areas of the district, but condition of the road here is deploring. The road is risky, especially for two-wheelers. Immediate attention and repair is required to make it safe and functional. — Chirag, Solan

Maira gram panchayat road in Jawali full of potholes

The village road in Ward No. 6 of Maira gram panchayat in Jawali subdivision has become unfit for pedestrians as well as vehicles. This stretch is full of potholes that get filled with rain water. The villagers are facing inconvenience while travelling to their homes. The local gram panchayat, which had made pucca roads in other parts of the panchayat, has neglected this village on the pretext of lack of funds. In the absence of poor road connectivity, the residents have to travel 2 km extra to reach their village. The authorities of Block Development Office, Nagrota Surian, should immediately address this problem. — Inder Singh, Maira

Shoolini, CAN sign MoU

Shoolini University signed an MoU with the Chandigarh Angles Network (CAN) for encouraging startups. Shoolini University founder and president Vishal Anand and Chandigarh Angels Network co-founder Kunal Nandwani signed the deal. “Right guidance can help the youth set up successful and breakthrough startups,” said Anand. Nandwani, on the other hand, said, “Shoolini students can facilitate CAN’s search for investable startups.” A book titled ‘Sociopreneur’ by Nandwani was also released on the occasion by Vice-Chancellor Prof PK Khosla. “With the wave of startup ecosystem picking up rapidly across the globe, being an angel network in India, we are doing our bit with mentoring and handholding of the startups,” said Nandwani.

Don’t charge beyond tuition fee: SFI

The SFI has accused University Institute of Information and Technology (UIIT) of asking students to deposit semester fee, which includes tuition fee and other funds as well, in a communication on August 24. The SFI has asked UIIT to roll back its decision regarding the fee and extend the date of fee submission till August 31. UIIT assured the students’ body that the issue will be discussed in the board of council meeting on August 28.

Events held on Women Equality Day

The students of DAV Public School, Manali, participated in various activities on the occasion of Women Equality Day. Students from classes III to XII sent videos and pictures of slogans, speeches and essays on women empowerment to the teachers. Principal RS Rana wished women on the occasion and encouraged the students to keep participating in such events.

Nain Singh is dean, Students Welfare

Professor Nain Singh will be the Dean, Students Welfare, HPU, in place of Professor Kamaljeet Singh, while Professor Nainjeet Singh Negi will be the director, International Students Welfare, and Professor Ajay Attri will take charge of chief warden with immediate effect, in addition to their own duties.
