Students of DAV, Manali, celebrated Christmas with full zeal and enthusiasm. All students from Class III to XII participated in various online activities. Hat making activity, paragraph writing and poster making were among the different activities organised to mark the event.
ABVP holds national convention
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) passed four resolutions in its 66th national convention held on December 25 and 26 at Nagpur. The resolutions passed included quick execution of the National Education Policy, India marching towards prosperity through self-dependence and conquering the threat of Covid through its culture and lifestyle. During the convention, Chagan Patel and Nidhi Tripathi were elected national president and general secretary of the body, respectively. Gaurav Attri was elected the organisational minister for Himachal.
Conference on Nat’l edu policy
Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, organised a one-day national conference on ‘Right to Education and National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’ on Saturday. The chief guest in the inaugural session was Justice Rajive Bhalla, former Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, who critically highlighted the existing scenario and need for fresh approach towards education. Prof Nishtha Jaswal, Vice-Chancellor, HPNLU, Shimla, emphasised the journey of education as fundamental right and the contributions made by the courts. Keynote speaker of the session was Prof (Dr) Srikrishna Deva Rao, Vice-Chancellor, National Law University, Delhi. Dr Pankaj Mittal, secretary general, Association of Indian Universities (AIU) highlighted the innovative aspects of the NEP. The inaugural session was followed by a plenary session, in which early schooling, vocational learning, practical exposure were highlighted as prime challenges for the implementation of the NEP.
3 yrs of BJP rule disappointing: NSUI
Members of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) said three years of the BJP had been very disappointing for the student community. NSUI state secretary Rajat Singh Rana said the government had money to buy luxury vehicles for its ministers but it neither had time nor resources to provide relief to students by reducing their fee. He said many student organisations had contributed to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund when the pandemic was at its peak but the government did not do justice with them.
