Public pressurised by Mining Dept
Despite public opposition, the state government is opening a new site for mining and installation of a stone crusher in the Bathan Chalaha area of Thural tehsil. The Mining Department, which is hands in glove with the mining mafia, is pressurising the public to not oppose the proposal. The panchyat members and residents are against the proposal. The panchyat has also refused to give the NOC for the project. Speed up construction work of GHS Kuned
Residents of Kuned in Bharmour are urging the government to speed up the construction of the Kuned government high school, which has been hanging fire for the past few years. The school was upgraded from middle to high school about three years ago and needs adequate accommodation. ABVP protests outside DC office
The ABVP on Friday demonstrated outside the DC office in Shimla against the Central University Registrar’s order to close the university. ABVP’s Vikrant Chauhan said the university was without a permanent campus for the last 11 years and, as a result, students were suffering. The ABVP demanded that the university be opened again at the earliest. Also, the students’ body said it would continue to protest till a solution to the problem was found.
NSUI condemns ‘manhandling’ of MLAs
The NSUI has expressed shock and anger over the alleged manhandling of Congress MLAs by BJP MLAs and ministers during the budget session. NSUI state president Chhatar Singh questioned what was wrong with the Congress MLAs demanding that the Governor read out his complete speech. The NSUI demanded that Vidhan Sabha vice-chairman Hansraj be sacked for “assaulting” Congress MLAs.
Gurukul school ex-student felicitated
Gurukul International Senior Secondary School, Solan, felicitated former student Naman Malpani for attaining 45th rank in the Chartered Accountant exam. He completed his Class XII in commerce stream with 93 per cent marks in the 2015-16 academic session. School principal Praveena Jha presented him a memento.
Farewell in DAV Public School
A farewell function was organised for the outgoing Class XII students at DAV Public School, Nagrota Surian in Jawali. Students of Class XI organised various fun games in the farewell ceremony. On this occasion, Aditya Guleria and Akshita were selected Mr Farewell and Miss Farewell, respectively. Principal Ekta Atri wished a bright future for the outgoing students.
SFI holds silent protest
The SFI on Friday staged a silent protest at the HPU by tying a black ribbon over their mouth. The SFI alleged that the administration was ignoring the demands of the students and was behaving in an arbitrary manner. The SFI demanded that 30 per cent of the state budget should be spent on education.
