No water supply in Nagdu

There is no supply of water from the Majholi pump house to Nagdu in the Kiari area of Shimla district for the past one-and-a-half month. There are about 40 houses in Nagdu, and there is no other source of water here. The situation is so bad that even if the department repairs the motor of the pump house, it will only serve the purpose for two days. The authorities concerned should make permanent arrangements to solve the problem, otherwise the residents would be forced to hold a protest. – Prashat, Karupa, Kairo, Roshan, Joginder, Hanish, Narayan Das, Naresh, Rajan

Jawali turns into dumping site

In the absence of a garbage disposal site or a solid waste management plant, Jawali town has become a dumping site. This can be a health hazard for the residents of the Jawali Nagar Panchayat. Heaps of garbage can be seen in every nook and corner of the town. Dustbins kept by the panchayat have also become useless. Residents are forced to dump garbage near the dustbins, as no arrangements have been made to remove garbage from them. Some habitual offenders also throw garbage in the Dehar khud and the Basantpur nullah near Jawali town. The authorities concerned should immediately solve the problem keeping in view risks to public health. — Pushpa Chowdhary, former chairperson, Jawali Nagar Panchayat
