Drain clogged with vegetation
The water channel that drains rainwater from the areas near the Una railway station, Kotla Kalan and Arniala villages before flowing into the Swan river tributary at Lalsingi village is clogged with vegetation. The authorities concerned need to clean and open the drain to prevent flooding in these areas during the monsoons. The vegetation also attracts pests and insects. Parveen Kumar, Una
Curfew harsh for dhaba owners
The curfew will be pretty hard for the owners of small roadside dhabas or stalls from Dhalli to Kurfi. We have to earn everyday to sustain our families. For the next 10 days, we will have no source of income. We just hope the curfew is not extended beyond 10 days, or we will be in deep trouble. Bhim Singh, Dhalli

SFI demands VC’s resignation
The SFI Thursday demanded the resignation of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) Vice-Chancellor Sikandar Kumar on moral grounds following the reports of his ineligibility for the post. The SFI alleged that he was ineligible to be Vice-Chancellor. According to the UGC ordinance, an associate professor to be appointed as Vice-Chancellor should have a minimum 10 years of experience but it was found that Sikandar Kumar was promoted as associate professor in 2009 and was appointed Vice-Chancellor in 2018, which clearly shows that he did not complete 10 years as professor. Also, the SFI said, Sikandar Kumar was the president of the BJP’s Dalit Morcha while he was a professor, which is not allowed.
