Online booking for plants

To facilitate the smooth sale and ensure strict compliance of the guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19, Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni, has started online booking of planting material prepared by the university and its Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and research stations. The annual sale of the planting material of apple, plum, apricot, peach, kiwi, pear, pomegranate, persimmon, etc. will be held in the first week of January. The farmers will have to submit their demand to the university/KVKs/ research stations on or before December 5. The university has advised the farmers to download the demand form from the university website (www.yspuniversity.ac.in). The demand form contains information about the fruits and the available varieties along with other important information. The duly filled demand form, mentioning the variety and the number of fruit plants required, needs to be emailed to the university on or before December 5.

Workshop conducted at HPU

The HPU’s Department of Evening Studies and ‘Sanjh Bati’ jointly conducted a five-day workshop ‘Antardarshan’ a few days back. The workshop featured discussions on literature, importance of scriptures, poetry, novel, research etc. On the final day of the workshop, chief guest Dr Amita Tiwari, a writer and researcher from Maryland University, US, termed humanity as the most important aspect in today’s world and reckoned literature could help on this front. She further said what one took away from literature depended on one’s eligibility and discretion and that made the role of teachers very important. In her speech, Prof Meenakshi F Paul stressed the importance of original source and lessons in research.
