Simian menace at The Ridge (PIC)
The monkey menace is on the rise in Shimla. Monkeys can be seen snatching eatables from tourists. While walking on The Ridge, one often hears people screaming to keep them away. A serious injury, especially to children and the elderly, also can’t be ruled out due to these. Tourists are forced to throw away their eatables as they see monkeys advancing towards them. The concerned authorities must take a note of this and get the needful done immediately. — Vikrant Thakur, shimla
People must leash their dogs during walks
Several dog owners come out for a walk without putting a leash on their pets in various parts of Shimla. Many a times, these dogs lunge at people, leaving people scared. The owners should put a leash on their dogs whenever they bring them out for a walk. — Rajesh Thakur, shimla

US Embassy delegation visits HPU
A delegation from the US Embassy, led by Catherine Fischer and Joy King, Public Diplomacy Officers, visited the Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, and discussed various issues related to mutually beneficial areas, especially entrepreneurship development, skill development, livelihood opportunities and issues related to women empowerment. After detailed discussion on various issues, a short video was shown to the delegates, followed by a presentation on various activities of the university and the Biotechnology Incubation Centre.
Aakash institute centre in Shimla
Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL), an institute that provides test preparatory services, on Tuesday inaugurated its first classroom centre in Shimla. The centre would have four classrooms accommodating up to 250 students. This will be the first AESL classroom centre in the state. It was inaugurated by Vikas Chauhan, AESL Regional Business Head. Aakash Chaudhry, AESL Managing Director, said: “Over the years, several students from Shimla and Himachal have studied at our centers in Chandigarh, Delhi and other cities. We are now pleased to open a centre in Shimla so that students can pursue their aspirations while being near their home. The centre will be a big boon for local students aspiring to clear Olympiads and competitive exams for becoming doctors and IITians.”
SFI submits memo to college admn
The SFI unit of Kotshera College submitted a memorandum to the college administration saying that ABVP workers from outside the college campus keep coming to the college and try to spoil the educational environment in the institution. The SFI said it had brought the matter to the administration’s notice earlier too but no action had been taken. The organisation further said if the administration did not take any action then it would not be responsible for the deteriorating environment of the college.
